Every equine artist will tell you that they've been drawing and riding since before they can remember. If you love horses and happen to be an artist the two activities take on such a pull that no matter how you may resist the two activities become one and the same. Horses came into my life on television as a small child in CHEO, I couldn't walk and one day I was watching a telecast of a parade where I saw a rider prancing by on a gleaming bay horse. I immediately decided that if I couldn't walk I would ride. These days I do both to varying degrees of success. Somewhere between that first "horse sighting" and now I added an interest in the arts and became a graphic designer, fine artist, illustrator and web designer and head up my own companies. These days I tend to describe myself by saying; "I am an artist, I express myself by painting horses" this is apt because I still provision design services and art to a varied clientelle but when I choose to express myself it is usually through painting equines, real or imagined. I would have to say that I am very fortunate; I do what I love and am involved in what I love whether it be at the barn, in front of my easel or the computer. I'm currently undergoing changes and producing a new catalogue of available images. Please request a catalogue of images using the links to the left, one will be sent by email when available. I will travel with a portfolio to clients in the Ottawa and surrounding areas but my studio is closed to the public. Occassionally I attend shows around Christmas and will post information here as dates become available. All the best. Ingrid Kostron |
